Only a few weeks ago, I announced that I would be posting an additional story/podcast each month as part of this new venture. Today, somewhat unexpectedly, I’m taking one away. But I’m really pleased that it’s for a great reason.
In response to the devastation wrought by the floods in Queensland, a group of professionals in the literary field – headed by Brisbane resident and co-owner of eMergent Publishing, Jodi Cleghorn, and UK author, Trevor Belshaw – set about putting together 100 Stories for Queensland. Following in the footsteps of 100 Stories for Haiti and 50 Stories for Pakistan – created by Greg McQueen – this publication will be released in hard copy, as an audiobook and in podcast form with 100% of the profits to be donated to the Qld Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal. In response to the brief for uplifting stories for any age and in any genre, I submitted my children’s story, Travelling Time and am proud to have heard today that it will be one of the 100.
All the stories are previously unpublished works accepted on the proviso that any appearing on personal blogs be removed if accepted. So it’s for this reason, that Travelling Time is no longer allowed on ALOUD.
The anthology is due for release on the 8th of March so make a note to get yourself a collection of brand new stories – including contributions from Anita Heiss, Sue Moorcroft, Geoff Nelder (and 97 more) – and, at the same time, help out the people who have lost so much.
