HELLO to longtime subscribers and WELCOME to new readers/listeners!
This month’s addition to alisonearlsALOUD is a simple one – a children’s story about the weather. They’ll probably talk about it quite a lot in adult life so why not plant the seeds of a positive outlook now? With storms causing damage, wind rattling things through the night and the summer sun something to be protected from, it doesn’t hurt to see what’s good about things that are unavoidable. So hopefully ‘Which Weather?’ might get the under 8s thinking positively (as well as getting in some practice conversation for their later years). So head to the ‘children’s stories’ page to read or listen to ‘Which Weather?’ (and listening’s a good option this month with a sing-song Greek chorus providing some rhyme and variety so the audio player is also on the text page allowing the story to be heard and views in text and pictures at the same time).
If, however, you’re looking for some more mature fiction that takes up a similar amount of time, the ‘very short stories‘ page has some micro fiction about friendship (‘Ernst & Karl’), commuting (‘Solomon the News’) and a new look (‘For the First Time’ and ‘A Hat Man’).
Happy reading/listening in August!
