Over the Wall

“One panda
. Two gorillas
. Four Silkie Bantam chickens
. And the llama from the petting zoo …
How could they all get out?” the keeper squawked with a . worried frown!

.

One panda
Two gorillas
Four Silkie Bantam chickens
And the llama from the petting zoo

Found their way out of the zoo one night and scattered to explore the city

.

One panda
Two gorillas
Four Silkie Bantam chickens
And the llama from the petting zoo

Might have planned or might have just decided in that moment

But they did it

They were gone

And no one knew how or where … or anything.

.

It took all day to find them – the chickens mostly, who could hide brilliantly.

And the llama was a galloper so catching became tricky.

The panda, he came willingly; the gorillas made a game of it.

But by closing time, they’d all been carefully wrangled

And were back

.

The panda with its mate in the bamboo of Panda Zone

The gorillas with their family in Great Green Jungle Land

The Silkie Bantam chickens with their fluffy friends in Farmyard Fun

And the llama from the petting zoo … in the petting zoo.

.

One panda
Two gorillas
Four Silkie Bantam chickens
And the llama from the petting zoo

In their own enclosures

In the zoo

Simply waiting for the dark.

.

And when all was still and quiet

And the last lion yawn had faded

One panda
Two gorillas
Four Silkie Bantam chickens
And the llama from the petting zoo

Ambled to the wall

And then did it all again.

Yay! My target audience has responded well. Now if he can just spread the word during ‘Show and Tell’, it could be the start of something big! Thanks for reading the blog and sharing it with the kids. It’s great to think of a busy household settling down for some stories around the computer.
